Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary

Our 2nd year of marriage together was spent recovering from our House Fire. We had just purchased a house at the end of February and it burned the middle of March taking Drake & Kai with it along with 90% of our belongings. It was spent in mourning & grief trying to pick our lives back up and move forward. Because of that we decided to purchase the local APA league and I quit my job at the Car Lot to run it full-time and concentrate on my photography to grow it as a business. We still played lots of pool and at first loved traveling to Vegas  for nationals. We would go for long rides together to try and pull me out of a great depression that I was sinking into. We also purchased a race horse with some friends ... I mean if you're going to live a in a town known for racing horses then you gotta own a horse at some point, right?!

This is also the time frame that Sapphire was born and we went on our Cruise to Mexico. Both of those events helped me tremendously in acknowledging that life goes on and we have to move forward no matter what.

Our 2nd Wedding Anniversary Gifts.... COTTON & LILLY

Goodness let me tell you; THAT was a hard one!! I had no idea... every gift search I came up with had to do with clothes or towels or bed linens are something like that and that was NOT the gift I wanted to give my husband for our 2nd year anniversary. Especially since our house just burned down and we lost Drake & Kai in the fire.

He did get me a beautiful bouquet of roses & lilies then surprised me with a white sapphire necklace with matching ring. He said he couldn't think of anything either that was COTTON!

Mutually we ended up getting me a helmet (cuz mine was in the fire) and we got matching seat covers for his truck and my car. We went to Shoguns for dinner and it was fabulous!

Counting Blessings

Ever have that "ooooooh shit" moment? Today, I did...

Wake up this morning (my morning, your late afternoon) in a frenzy because I nearly overslept on meeting new photography clients to sign their wedding contract! I grab a shower real fast after sending Ella outside to use the potty. I open the back door to throw my stuff in the seat and she jumps in. OKAY - not a problem, she loves to ride. Buckle her in, put my stuff up front and off we go to meet the happy couple.

Now it's time for about a million errands. I won't bore you with the details but I spent over 3 hours driving in/around my town.

You know that car we traded in our lemon for? Well, she did just great and last night we gave her a name: Silver Bullet the Kamikazi Bunny Killer (it's an inside joke between me and Maverick). HOWEVER, I don't know if the previous people threw soda or what on the dash and ended up on the inside of the window but it was hard to see out of and so during my many errands (one of which was Wal-Mart to get gifts for Sapphire's birthday party tomorrow) I got some super duper heavy duty window cleaner.

Finally get home and I put my phone on the hood of the car, put Ella on her leash to roam around the yard and start cleaning the windows... Maverick comes home and he's starving, I'm starving, we have free food coming at us from Olive Garden from when the waitress lost my debit card (yes, you heard that right... we got a comped meal that night and a $50 gift card for later). We put Ella in her room and load our happy selves into the Bunny Killer and off we go!

It's a mad house cuz it's Friday night... Mav drops me off at the door and so I go in and get us put on the list. I go outside cuz it's super crowded in there and I go to put the beeper thingy in my pocket and realize I don't have my phone so I'm digging around my purse trying to find it (it's an iphone 6 in a defender otterbox so that didn't take long) and figure I forgot it at the house. I look up and there's this striking young man holding a pink otterbox that's nearly black on the edges from my newspaper adventures and I say "that's a cute color on you" or something like that and he's like "I found it" and I said "I think that's mine I guess it fell out when I got out of the car" and he said "actually, it was on the hood of that car" and pointed to our new ride.... and it dawns on me... and I realize how lucky I just got because my phone rode from the house to OG and DIDN'T FALL OFF!

Everything is great and we're having an awesome meal. We go to leave and I hear someone running behind me saying "lady, hey lady" and I turn around - surely not talking to me - and she's holding money out to me -- I dropped the $5 that was the change from earlier shopping out of my pocket onto the floor when I got up out of my chair...

Two complete strangers today saved my ass! And I'm very thankful for them for that. And thankful for a little bit more faith restored to the human race.
